So, this week, we have seen the release of God Wars: Future Past (PS4/Vita, June 20th) and Ever Oasis (3DS, June 23rd). I have also decided to try out a new format for JRPG Update, and one will noticed most of the pictures have already been used. That is partially to save time for myself given how much time I spent editing in Amazon Associates links, meaning I make a small amount of money any time someone clicks one of these links and proceeds to buy something from Amazon.
Well, considering that this was the week of E3, it would definitely make sense that we got a lot of new coverage about games, of which JRPGs and JRPG influenced games are no exceptions. Since our only new release this week was the Steam version of Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls, we can just jump right in. Read more
There were some pretty exciting announcements made this week in terms of vocalizations, and I think a lot of people will agree with me on that one. But before that, we need to go over this week’s new releases. First we have Dark Rose Valkyrie on the PS4, our most recent Compile Heart/Idea Factory RPG. Secondly, we have ClaDun Returns: This is Sengoku! for PS4, Vita, and Steam by Nippon Icchi Software. Additionally, last week I forgot about Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo HD Edition for PS4. Anyway, let us begin.
Well, we have got quite a bit lined up for this week in regards to JRPGs and JRPG influenced games. Then again, there is always a sizable about of new stuff available. And to think some say that JRPGs are dead.
Anyway, within the last week, we have seen the release of Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception (PS4/Vita), Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PS4), Acaratus (Steam), and Disgaea 5 Complete (Switch). So today is looking especially good for SRPG releases.
Well, another week has come and gone, and thank god I decided to write out all these announcements as they came up rather than doing them all in one day because I decided I wanted to enhance the presentation a bit, and that took some time to do. Anyway this week had a pretty good news line up for JRPGs and JRPG influenced games. This week has seen the release of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (3DS), Regalia – Of Men and Monarchs (PC), Akiba’s Beat (PS4/Vita), Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy (Vita/PC), and Chroma Squad (PS4/XONE).
Since this is the first time I have posted this here, I may as well explain just what JRPG Update is. The idea is to gather up all JRPG related news that I could and compile it into one place. I usually intend for this to be a weekly update, but this one will contain everything that happened between now and the last JRPG update (which was on my DevianArt account). I didn’t get around to this update for a while since I only recently completed my classes and now have the free time for it. Also one will notice that most sources are from Gematsu. That is because they tend to be the place where one can find news related to Japanese games the easiest, but I will try and look into additional sources in the future for the subject of indie titles or even more niche stuff like eroge.
