One may have noticed that there was no September update if one was paying close attention. The reason for that had to pertain to the heavy feeling of burnout that I’ve been experiencing, and the constant struggles to determine the direction of this blog. As I said in my brief update, I’m now sticking to a “whatever the hell I want whenever the hell I want” basis.” This means I’ll be going back to game reviews, as I just don’t have the energy to write about politics at this time. Anyway I’ve decided that I’m going to recap everything I’ve done throughout the past few months as opposed to just the last.
Rant: On Natalie Wynn’s “Cancellation”
Eryi’s Action (PC): Like I Wanna be the Guy… Except Fun (Detailed Review)
Cosmic Star Heroine (PC/PS4/Vita/XONE/Switch): Mission Accomplished (Detailed Review)
So, the last months have been fairly rough for me. I say that a lot, but depression IS a real bitch. My hope is to return to more regular content updates now that I have had a well needed break, but depression just doesn’t know when to quit. Lately it just seems to be on and off episodes of it, and I never know when one will strike. Thankfully I seem to at least be doing well enough to write this update.
So I have decided a few things about the direction of my blog. The first is that, no, I’m not going to create a politically focused blog. I just don’t have the spoons to write all these length research heavy political pieces. That’s not to say I won’t make any more, but I’m still going to focus on games.
My current schedule is to write a review for Yōkai Dōchūki and Sakura Angels, both of which I have beaten fairly recently. I am currently playing through Bayonetta and plan for a review of it to follow as well. Hard to believe that I still had my Twitter account when I decided that would be the game I cover in celebration for $50 a month from Patreon. I figure I may as well complete it before I reach the next milestone.
I’ve recently been deciding that my plan of action is to play and review each of the games I said I was going to review and that I feel personal obligations for. It’s a major reason why I decided to finally sit down and cover Cosmic Star Heroine already. Just to recap, the requested games following Bayonetta include DeltaRune, Celeste, and Katawa Shoujo. I can’t promise to play them consecutively though because there is one release this month that I can’t ignore; Maggot Baits.
For those who don’t know, Maggot Baits is the second game made by the team behind Euphoria. Considering that my review of Euphoria has pretty much carried most of the traffic to this blog, and that I’ve literally written a thesis length essay about it in addition to my 5000+ word review, it would be remiss of me to not talk about Maggot Baits. I would just need to finish up Bayonetta and one other game I currently have a review code for, then I’d be ready to cover Maggot Baits. And let me just say, I’m definitely looking forward to getting traumatized all over again.
Anyway I guess it’s time for patron shout outs. Special thanks to Winter, Beverley Martin, bluedesolation, Cesar Zamudio, Riley the Neko, IceTheRetroKid, Madeline Koeppel, Rinnie S, and Tammy Aran.
