Well, we survived 2020, and in 18 days we will have survived the Trump Presidency. Damn, I feel tired even mentioning that. 2020 has had its highs and lows… holy hell did it have its lows. Hell it even culminated in me needing to end a year long relationship that has taken an abusive turn in the past week, with her saying some incredibly hurtful things that struck at my deepest insecurities. It’s one thing when some random troll says these things, but when it’s someone you loved and trusted, it’s a whole other story.
Given that this ex of mine was also the former patron who requested the Fallout 4 review, I’ve decided to postpone that review indefinitely due to the fact that I will be unable to play the game at this time without thinking of her. I’d prefer to not cancel it outright since she did meet the requirements for it, and I want to honor my commitment, but I may as well cover the reviews for patrons who are still supporting me first.
Anyway, I can thankfully say this year ended on a positive note since I spent New Years with one of my other partners, Brittany Eakin, and it was so wonderful getting to be with her after all this isolation. Also as an aside, Brittany has a blog as well, and I’d definitely check it out if you are interested in philosophical writings on trans issues.
Anyway, here is a recap of my December posts.
So I managed to get out three new reviews, and have updated an older GameFAQs review. It seems that I am slowly getting back into the swing of things, and that I hope to keep putting out more consistent content. I can definitely say that I am pleased with some of these results, especially since I initially did not plan to write reviews for Super Win the Game of A Kiss for the Petals: Remembering How we Met.
I can definitely say that my review of Lightning Warrior Raidy was the main event last month, and I am quite proud of it. I pride myself on offering unique insight into games that many people don’t bother to look at critically. I have been considering leaning into more visual novel/eroge coverage simply because they happen to be my most well received content by far. Not to mention that I do genuinely enjoy the process of talking about them. That’s not to say I will be exclusively covering them, but you can definitely expect a bit more of them.
As for what is currently in the works, there are three games I plan to write reviews of in the next month, those being Games&Girls, Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, and Celeste. There may be more if I am fast enough with my work. At this time, I am currently replaying Super Mario 64 on the Super Mario 3D All Stars Collection, and may or may not to decide to write something on it.
At this time, I am currently aiming to get out one piece of new content a week, but I only have so much energy to go through. I do still have a fair amount of pre GA reviews to update and post, so I thankfully should not go through long stretches without content for quite some time. I would also like to most more Amazing VGM pieces since I have kind of slowed down on them.
Overall, I think I am on the right track with the current state of this blog. Views seemed to have gone up and I’ve been getting more messages of support, so I think this is a sign to keep doing what I’m doing. It also helps that I got two new patrons in the last month after having gone several months without any while I was working on all that political shit. I just have to say that the fact that anyone enjoys my content enough to financially support me in the middle of an economic depression, it really means a lot to me. Even more so since these two haven’t had much of a prior relationship with me, so it means that the quality of my work along was enough to warrant it (although that is not to say I don’t value the contributions of those close to me, I love all of you a lot).
Anyway, the two new patrons are Wendy Gowack and Jimbolance. Thank you very much for your contributions, and I am hopeful to keep providing enjoyable content. I’d also like to thank my recurring patrons Krista, Brittany Eakin, Sam Dermody, IceTheRetroKid, bluedesolation, Dia, and Rin Marina. I’d also like to thank my other two partners who haven’t been mentioned, Aurin Khaos and Samie Crystal for supporting me through all this. Additional thanks goes to anyone else who has offered a lending ear or support to me who isn’t mentioned, as I really appreciate all the support I’ve been offered throughout the years.
If anyone else would like to support me, you can pledge to my Patreon here, or you could share my work with friends and on any of your social media pages.
