Poem #44: My Love

Note: This poem was originally posted on my Patreon account on August 22nd of 2018. I am currently posting a new poem to my patreon account each day for patron exclusive reading and on this blog one week later for public viewing. If you’d like to see these poems when they are first put up then please consider pledging to my patreon page.

I have conquered the world, and yet I miss you.

I possess all of the world’s wealth, but I miss you.

All bow to my feet, except for you.

All worship me, but not you.

What makes you special, what makes you so divine?

To have stolen my both my heart and my time?

From a captive to a conqueror I have become.

But despite all else, my greatest shame cannot be undone.

I desire nothing more than to impress you.

Yet I inspire nothing more than your detesting view.

I wish to be your aid, your shield and armor.

To sever the heart of all that dare harm her.

But if that includes me, I cannot obey.

Not for myself, but for others and for what they say.

To sever the bond that ties, she can do only one thing.

She must betray me, and make my friends bleed.

If that was to befall, there’d be no more love.

But such disaster won’t come to us.

I seek repentance by carrying on her reason.

To protect those in need, despite my very own treason.
