The Blue Wave Is Not Enough (But We Are!)

The past week has been absolutely devastating for me as an individual. As I am writing this my Twitter account is on lock down because of an aggressive remark I made to someone claiming that trans men don’t deserve financial support and have male privilege. It made me realize just how dependent I am on social media and on my existing audience. I’ve been anxious and on edge partly due to the news of Trump deciding to take a huge shit all over trans rights but also because of many personal issues. On top of that, Brazilian Hitler is now president in Brazil and I’m deeply worried for the safety of a close friend of mine.

Being trans is but one aspect of myself, and thus the setbacks that I face for being trans in a cis normative and heavily cissexist society are far from what I am limited to. I also suffer extreme drawbacks due to my many mental issues such as my agoraphobia, depression, social anxiety, complex PTSD, and likely from borderline personality disorder. I’ve thought deeply and heavily about what will happen if I ever need to turn to illegal activity just to live as my true self. Read more

Political Rant: On Kristi Hanna and Trans Women in Women Shelters

Kristi Hanna

TW: Transphobia, Domestic Abuse, Homophobia, Rape.
Just a few moments ago, I came across a tweet from a rather prevalent trans writer I follow about an incident in a Toronto women’s shelter involving a trans woman. There was a link to an article by the National Post titled “Forced to share a room with transgender woman in Toronto shelter, sex abuse victim files human rights complaint.” The contents was about what I’d expect given the tendency of media to dehumanize trans women as predators for even the slightest provocation. In the past, I have made the claim that I need to posses at least a modicum of respect for someone if I am to write a response to the. To make things clear, that does not apply to Joseph Brean or the National Post. I consider this piece more so of a response to Kristi Hanna herself.

Before anyone assumes I’m about to defend Hanna, I ask that you re-read the title of this post. I don’t know Hanna personally and thus I am not going to assume that she is a straight up bigot right away, or if she merely did something dubious while under the stress of trauma related to sexual abuse. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt for the purposes of this response precisely because that is a possibility, but also because this can very well be the case for other cis women. The Absurdity of the “Trans Narcissism” Narrative

Trigger Warning: Transphobia, and lots of it. Also ableism and violence.

Did you know that being a trans person and caring about how you are treated by cis people is inherently selfish? Did you know that when some douchebag calls trans women “mentally ill men with mutilated dicks” that WE are the ones that are selfish for calling them assholes? Did you know that having hatred and contempt for women who literally think our existence is misogynistic and that claim we are a danger to women by nature of said existence means we are abusers who only care about ourselves and fetishize womanhood?

What’s that? That sounds morally disgusting and abusive? Congratulations; you’re a decent human being! Those that take issue with this last paragraph will likely have one of two responses. The first are those that unironically believe everything I just said because they are biological essentialist sociopaths and will then claim it is “proof” of my narcissism. In this case, such a thing is obviously projection due to a refusal to accept a major human rights movement because one would rather believe their own innate prejudiced instincts than have a shred of human decency.

The second and likely larger group are those that think this paragraph is an exaggerated strawman and that they don’t actually think that way. While there are certainly some that don’t even have anything against trans acceptance or inclusion that simply think that most trans activists would consider them transpbobes anyway, I would know since I have met some of them, there is still a sizable amount who will say that the above is a strawman… yet who still believe some variation on the above. AnnieGal Unscripted #5 “Waifu Holocaust” Steam Controversy

A new video of mine about Steam being dumb and banning lewd anime games.

The TLDW version is that gamers trivialize the issue by calling it the “waifu holocaust,” and downplay the sexist, homophobic, and xenophobic implications present.

Blaire White: An Intervention

Blaire White | Ok sign

I wrote an article about Blaire White on this blog once before. I have a rule established that I only write response articles to people who have at least a shred of human decency in them, and when I wrote that, I was under the naive impression that Blaire might be one of those. Considering that I had already gone from being a hater to being a fan, it would take a lot to make me renounce any bit of respect I had for her. At that point, I had already pledged three superchat donations to her. Hell I really wanted to debate her myself to the point that I tried whatever I could to get her attention, none of which succeeded. One of those donations was specifically to ask her to debate me on a live stream, she said she was okay with it but couldn’t find me because I didn’t give her my Twitter handle (even though she followed me on Twitter at the time and could have just searched the handle). So I made another pledge just to provide the handle, but she skips over this one during the stream when she otherwise goes out of her way to read ALL of them.

Steam Greenlight Landfill: FEMINAZI: The Triggering

Feminazi: The Triggering | logo

While I knew that a game like FEMINAZI: The Triggering would be garbage based only off the title, it was something that looked so stupid and immature that I needed to try it out. It was pretty much what I expected, but I find it interesting to write about games that are entirely motivated by politics. I find it a lot more fun than playing them that’s for sure,

Of note is that this game was released in February of 2017, 2 years after GamerGate was at its peak and was relevant. As a result, this already draws similarities to when Hollywood tries to cash in on memes years after they were popular. Additionally, it was published by Back to Basics Gaming, who serves as the LJN of Steam releases. Looking through their releases, one will see that they mostly publish RPG Maker games or low budget bargain bin titles that barely pass for flash games. They also published Final Quest, a poorly made RPG Maker game that I reviewed a while back, although said game clearly had much higher intentions than the garbage I’m reviewing here.

Response to Zinnia Jones: Zinnia Understands Science and Facts (But Doesn’t Understand People)

Zinnia Jones

For those of you that have followed my political writings, you are likely familiar with Zinnia Jones, as I have previously written an entire article in defense of a few controversial tweets of her’s, and I have mentioned her in an article made in response to her arch nemesis, Blaire White. I have mentioned her in part of my own personal grievances with Blaire, but if one paid attention, I also foreshadowed this article back there as well.

…it feels like I’m the only one who just doesn’t expect everyone to be perfect. I’m not even referring to just Blaire here, but I am also speaking with Zinnia in mind with whom my feelings are similar but for different reasons. I have thought of making a similar piece about her, but I’m unsure how to approach it.

Well, I have figured that out now. If one could not have guessed, my article about Blaire was not just a rebuttal, it was Read more

A Measured Response to Harry Brewis (hbomberguy): Objectification and Power Fantasy in Video Games

Senran Kagura Cast

TW: Mentions of misogyny, lesbophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.

I have been meaning to touch upon the subject of objectification for a very long time. I have mentioned it in a lot of my work and I have made it known that it is a very personal subject to me, and it has often served as somewhat of a berserk button of mine. By far the most viewed article of mine was a response to then Destructoid writer Jed Whitaker’s own article about Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkuni, that claimed it was “Dynasty Warriors for pedophiles.” To say that I was not happy with it is like saying that the Holocaust was a bit of a bummer. That article of mine is perhaps the angriest piece I have ever written (and that I ever will).

What  particularly enraged me was how patronizing and condescending that Jed was to his own target audience and how little respect he had, in addition to hideously homophobic and sexist implications present throughout, despite the fact that he was clearly trying to be a feminist ally. Due to not wanting to be lumped in with the gamer bro AIW crowd, I tried to make my piece sound as feministy as possible and tried to address precisely WHY Jed Whitaker’s views were as harmful as they are. It seemed to have the opposite effect as it actually became very well received among anti-feminist GamerGate supporters, enough so that it was even retweeted by Ian Miles Cheong (which is probably how it got over 1300 total views when most of my pieces don’t even break 100).

Response to Meghan Murphy: If Gender Critical Feminists Truly Cared About Empathy, They’d Show the Same to Trans People

TW: Mentions of transphobia, misogyny, suicide, violence, emotional abuse,

I would like to open this piece up with a reminder about the content that I write. I don’t like writing pieces that merely restate opinions that are already commonly expressed. I’m never the type to merely preach to the choir; I instead prefer to write with my detractors in mind and imagine that they are reading this. I am very thorough with my writing, so much so that I am often scarred to post certain things because I know of the multiple ways things can be misinterpreted, and because I know clarification is not always enough.

Throughout the past few weeks, I have been trying to understand gender critical ideology and views more, and this revelation alone was not taken well by some trans followers of mine. I have always been able to get along with people of opposing views and I am strongly against the demonization of entire groups, so that also applies to gender critical feminists. I am also choosing to eschew the term “TERF” in this article for the purposes of at least attempting civility. Lastly, I would like to remind everyone that I make a personal obligation to myself to only write response articles to those whom I possess a modicum of respect for (anyone that doesn’t fit this category that I have written in response to was before I put this obligation into effect). While I find Meghan Murphy’s views on trans people to be heavily prejudiced and uninformed, I at least get the anger from her writing comes from frustration rather than hatred; yes there is a difference.

Why “#MeToo” Can’t Be Only About Male on Female Rape.

Me Too

MAJOR Trigger Warning for Rape and sexual abuse! Also misandry, misogyny,  homophobia, transphobia, and domestic abuse.

I, among many others, was not originally going to talk about this subject. The reason for this is because the left has the habit of making hashtags but doing nothing with them. They are almost always a call for action, but never any action that follows; the popular term for this is “slacktivism,” to mock the laziness and lack of ambition on the part of those who engage in it. Yes, I am not one to criticize since I post in hashtags as well, and I have used what is normally a blog for gaming and other nerd related interests to get on my own soapbox, but I at least have the excuse of being poor and agoraphobic while I see dozens of others far more capable than myself who do even less than me; and even then, I at least write my own pieces with my potential detractors in mind.

I have never had any interest in preaching to the choir; I have always wanted to speak to those who are not convinced, but have the capacity to be just as long as the right person comes along. Despite my small status, I am glad to say that I have made an impact on those who have heard what I have to say, and this tells me that all I need to do is reach a wider audience. So trust me, I would be getting out there and doing real activism if I was able to, and I do seriously want to in the future, but I need to take care of myself first, so for now, you have my words here.
