Meltys Quest (PC): Shameless, Trashy, and Oddly Compelling (Detailed Review) (NSFW)

Meltys Quest | title screen

CW: Mentions of and references to strong sexual content, rape, incest, pedophilia, homophobia, biphobia, and domestic abuse. Images are blurred but still sexual in nature.

Meltys Quest is a bit of an oddity to me. I can normally just place a game in the “good” or “bad” category and be done with it. I did enjoy Meltys Quest overall, but there were also a lot of issues that I had with it, and those issues are ones that prevent me from giving it a blanket recommendation across the board. One of the key reasons that I choose to do away with review scores is because some factors may be more or less important for some people than others. A review is merely one interpretation of the game in question, and one’s own interpretations will be based very heavily on their own backgrounds.

My own background as a radical feminist is one that makes me a lot more critical of certain aspects of this game than most of its target audience will care about. While I am far from sex negative, I do tend to hold a lot of disdain for porn, or at the very least mainstream pornography. I don’t believe that it is doing direct harm or needs to be banned like the stereotypical angry triggered feminazi stereotype does, but rather I think that most porn… kinda sucks, and I don’t mean in the sexy way (although it does that to). If anything, I actually have far more respect for the eroge genre than most do because I don’t think that being an eroge justifies shitty writing or immaturity. Yes, the intent of the game is kept in mind, but such a thing is just common sense when reviewing.

Starless: Nymphomaniac’s Paradise (PC): Where the Stars Don’t Shine (Detailed Review) (Extremely NSFW)

Starless | cover art

Trigger Warning: Starless… no more is needed…okay fine, rape, incest, bestiality, scat, genital mutilation, murder, starvation, confinement, kidnapping, sexual slavery, and all around unpleasant sexual imagery. The game itself is far to grotesque and sicking to recommend to ANYONE! Extreme caution is advised if one wants to play this game anyway!

Starless Nymphomaniac’s Paradise is one of, if not the most disturbing games ever made. This is not the usual levels of messed up that hentai is known for. If you still think something like Rapelay is a legitimately disturbing game, stay far away from this game. If one is not the right type of audience for this game, it can cause deeply scarring psychological problems that will stick with you for a long time. It has been a year since I played this game and I still cannot get the images from it out of my head.

Also what I would like to disclose is that this is not the first time I reviewed this game. I have written a review of it a year ago shortly after I finished the game. The game had caused some very adverse effects on my mental state, which has resulted in a hastily written review that did not explain everything about the game that was needed to make my point, and I worded some things rather questionably. This time, I will try to view the game from a more observational standpoint at how well it achieves what it sets out to do.

Euphoria (PC): Beyond Horror, Beyond Hentai, Beyond Art (Detailed Review) (NSFW)

Euphoria | Box Art

Trigger Warning: Rape, violence, emotional abuse and manipulation, and various other manner of disturbing or gruesome depictions. Euphoria itself is practically one big trigger in and of itself. This game should NOT be played by any except by the most desensitized and depraved of hentai fans. By playing this game, you risk seeing some seriously scarring material that could cause severe psychological damage, and should NOT be played by anyone under 18, and even if you are above that age, proceed with EXTREME CAUTION!

Euphoria was a game that almost leaves me at a literal loss for words. In a way, it may be one of, if not, the most impressive games I have ever played, and I can at least say that it is one of my favorites. At the same time, I don’t feel as though I can recommend it, at least not to most. The reason why my reviews are often so long winded is simply because I have used my writing as a way of communicating my feelings as thoroughly as possible. The point is to paint a clear picture of not only whatever I was reviewing was like on a surface level, but also on an emotional and spiritual level. My favorite works of art are always those that speak directly to the soul and that put artistic vision before everything else. Of course, they also need to be well made but that is pretty much a given.

Amazing VGM: Appetite (Starless: Nymphomaniac’s Paradise)

Starless | Logo

TW: Mention of Rape. Don’t worry, next Amazing VGM won’t be based on a hardcore hentai title.

Well, I’m sure no one would have expected this coming from me. Yes, I stand by every word of what I said of my Starless review. Starless was not only the worst gaming experience I ever had, but it was also one of the worst life experiences I have had in general. I don’t want to go too much more into it as I’ve already said enough before, and because this is a positive article here.

Impressions & Commentary: Euphoria Intro

TW: All of them. All of the triggers. Specifically, rape, torture, death, emotional abuse, kidnapping, blackmail, and gaslighting; but really it’s more of an “all of them” kind of deal.

Earthbound | Absolute Terror

I’m sure most of you can tell that these words are not from Euphoria, but I really do not think any quote sums up my first impressions of this game quite as effectively. The battle against Giygas in Earthbound is commonly seen as one of the most emotionally draining and frightening sequences in gaming, but compared to what I saw in the first hour and a half of Euphoria, well… it looks like the battle against Giygas from Earthbound, which is a lot less terrifying than Euphoria.

Quick Review: Lapis Gunner (PC) (NSFW)

Lapis Gunner | Logo

TW: More tentacle rape.

Due to the fact that this game has little in terms of SFW images, I have slightly blurred the screenshots of this game. If you want to see them unblurred, I’d suggest playing the game.

Lapis Gunner is the sequel to Ruby Striker, a short hentai game about a magical girl being tentacle raped by a demonic villain named Zodiac. There was really not all that much to Ruby Striker plot wise as it was purely pornographic material for those into tentacle rape based hentai. Most of the same things that were said about Ruby Striker can be said about Lapis Gunner, although the game overall felt like a step down.

The story of Lapis Gunner takes place after the events of Ruby Striker and focuses on the titular Lapis Gunner, one of Ruby Striker’s allies who came to rescue her. Unfortunately, she got captured by Zodiac as well and awaits a similar fate. From here on out, the game is pretty much the same as Ruby Striker in its structure.
