Amazing VGM: Sealed Door (Chrono Trigger)

Chrono Trigger | Sleeps beyond the flow of time

So we all agree Chrono Trigger is amazing, and we all agree that it’s music is also amazing. I have considered replaying it for review purposes, but something something backlog too big blah blah blah you heard it all before. So I did the next best thing and watched Chuggaaconroy’s lets play of it. I remember a time when the most subscribed lets player on Youtube actually made videos for the fun of it as opposed to making them to cash in on fads. Yes I know he only covered this game last year, but we are talking about a game about time travel so… okay fuck it, I was just feeling nostalgic… and spiteful.

Top 25 Saddest Video Game Songs (25-13)

Top 25 Saddest Video Game Songs

I’ve made it clear that I have a very strong appreciation for video game music in the past, enough so that I have done multiple countdowns before in addition to my Amazing VGM series. Once again for the sake of clarity, titles covered on JRPG Update pro are professionally made games made by experienced teams and with the backing of a major publisher, while games made by inexperienced teams that are self published are covered in JRPG Update Indie, with the exception

Amazing VGM: Ephemeral Memory (Chrono Cross)

Chrono Cross | Main Image

This week’s VGM is another one that I am only vaguely familiar with. My only experience with Chrono Cross was a let’s play and I have forgotten a vast majority of the plot details. I do remember finding the game very somber and depressing, lacking the optimistic tone of Chrono Trigger, while having a much more convoluted plot. I would best sum it up as Chrono Cross is to Chrono Trigger what Mother 3 was to Earthbound. Granted, I would not consider Chrono Cross to be quite AS sad and depressing as Mother 3, but it was still pretty close.
