Poem #13: The Will to Live

Note: The poem was originally posted on my Patreon account on July 22nd of 2018. I am currently posting a new poem to my patreon account each day for patron exclusive reading and on this blog one week later for public viewing. If you’d like to see these poems when they are first put up then please consider pledging to my patreon page.

What gives me the urge to live is the desire to help those around me
I seek to give and to receive enough to help those in need
Though I help many others through perils worse than my own
I still wait and toil dare I ever leave my home.
One day the pain shall drift beyond my own consciousness and drain the will to live from those who dare to follow. I delay this day in hope that this pain may one day fade. Regret and turmoil embedded burning oil washing over my veins. Burnt alive yet dead inside wishing to remain barely sane. Will one ever explain why I ever loved another only to tear her heart asunder yet slowly torture my own over the course of many deadly moons?

The will to live is not my own, but it falls on those dear to me. I live for you. I hold no other reason to be.
