TW: Suicide

So, this is apparently a thing among some of the community bloggers lately.

I think it goes saying that I support this. I not only support this, but I am pretty much dedicated it, and I have now changed this site’s logo to include the aforementioned symbol… and just added some extra colors cause that’s just me.

To make things clear, this applies to literally anyone, and I mean ANYONE! I have a history of talking people out of suicide and providing a listening ear and a shoulder to lie on. I don’t discriminate. I don’t care what your political beliefs are or what you have said or have done in the past. The only limitation I have is if doing so puts myself and others in direct danger, and even under the former I’d still consider it. I have an especially heightened sense of empathy and compassion, you are unlikely to find anything that I would turn one away for, and on the off chance that this happens, I will try to find someone who can. Even if I have never even met you, I’ll gladly talk to you as long as you need even if I need to stay up all night to do so.

But perhaps I should answer that question. What reason is there to go on living in a world where I have nothing and every second is a painful eternity? Why keep pushing forward when there is nothing to gain?

For 21 years, I have asked this question to myself and others time after time, and almost every answer I have received was a variation of “because we would be very very sad without you.” This has succeeded keeping me from killing myself, but that is all it did. It did not fix the core problems, nor did it change my mind. All it did was make me resent my kind nature and become angrier and angrier. I sometimes wanted to just turn into an absolute prick so that everyone would leave me alone and I could finally kill myself in peace.

To truly help someone, you need to actually give a damn about them. You need to be there for them at ALL times whenever they need you. You can’t just decide to only show up just before they kill themselves then say nothing else afterwards. You need to bring a spark of satisfaction and happiness into their life when they otherwise have a severely reduced capacity to feel it; and that’s what I plan to do.

So no, you don’t need to be suicidally depressed to come see me. I’d be happy to talk to you casually. In fact, it helps me immensely when someone else says the first words. If you want to get in contact with me, you can do so on Twitter or by joining my Discord chat, where not only I but also some trusted friends of mine will be happy to give you company whenever you need it.

And I ask anyone who would do the same to also write a post mentioning the original article, including the hashtag #Continuedontquit in your description, or putting this symbol somewhere in your profile pic.

None of us are truly alone in this world, so I say it’s about time we start acting like it.

  1. That was a powerfully and disarmingly brave post. For what it’s worth, I’m impressed and I have a feeling someone that can write a piece like this does more good than harm. We need to balance out this world, we can’t afford to loose the good ones.
You did a beautiful job with the logo – let me know if you want a higher rez version.
