The Death and Return of JRPG Update

JRPG Update is back folks… sorta. In order to make things easier on myself, I decided that some revisions needed to be made to how I would handle things, simply because I was overloaded the way that JRPG Update worked before. I tried to post weekly updates by covering as much JRPG related information as I could, even things that seemed insignificant. As such, I am deciding to do some vetting for the content that I cover and will try to avoid posting redundant news such as “such and such has new screen shots” or “details have been given about the shape of the hair of the NPC off to the top right corner in the second house in the games 13th town.” Also, updates will be posted monthly as opposed to weekly so I have time to actually work on other content.

I have also decided that I will count RPG Maker games as well provided that they look at least remotely decent and are not by the numbers fluff. Basically, if it looks halfway decent, it will be eligible. Additionally, I have decided I will have two different variations of JRPG Update each month. One will be for professional releases that are backed by a major publisher or are of considerable popularity. This will also include any news on games unannounced for localization that look interesting. The second will be for independent titles that looks to be of at least decent quality that are available in English. Rom hacks will be categorized based on content. Cosmetic changes or bug fixes will be covered in “professional” as per the game in question, while fan games or fan translations will be covered in Indie since they are practically their own projects in and of themselves. Anyway, I’m not going to bother with any news since there is way too much to cover, so I will simply post a list of all the games that have been released since then in both categories. If I had the time and patience, I may have even written them in chronological order as song lyrics to the tune of “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” but eh, we can’t get em all.
