JRPG Update: 7/3/2017 -7/9/2017

I have an unfortunate announcement to make regarding the status of JRPG Update. Following this article, JRPG Update will be put on indefinite hiatus and will most likely be canceled entirely. As satisfied as I was putting these together each week, I have found that it has also become way too overwhelming to do so on a weekly basis and it has reached the point where they are interfering with my other work. Additionally, this is not a case where I can just take a break seeing as how more and more stuff builds up over time, which will just make it infinitely more time consuming when I decide to resume.

Furthermore, I would like to make note that it is not finding the news that is making things difficult. Rather it is the amount of time required to edit all of this stuff together. It is simply getting too overwhelming needing to manually hyperlink every page, insert amazon/PS Store/Steam links, either inserting images (that I can’t just copy paste cause the way WordPress works and I instead need to save and embed manually (which adds up quite a bit between all the required stuff) or inserting videos (which can just be copy pasted but adding too many will cause horrendous lag that makes it near impossible to get these done at a reasonable rate). None of this is necessarily “hard” to do but it is very long and tedious, and unless I can find an easier way of creating these, I’m going to just have to cut these out entirely. For those who really want to keep up, I will still be updating the JRPG release calendar and posting about news (albeit only about the bigger stuff, not just “new screenshots for *insert game here*”) on this forum topic, which is where this series of mine originated from..

This week, we have seen the release of Accel World vs Sword Art Online (PS4/Vita) and Antiquia Lost (Steam). On top of that, I discovered that we have Asdivine Cross coming to 3DS E-shop next week. Presentation won’t be nearly as pretty as usual cause I just don’t have the motivation currently. Also I just put the links there instead of hyperlinking. As I said, I’m likely done after this anyway.

  1. Awwww, that’s too bad. I did think it looked like it took a lot of work and if it’s interfering with your other work then I suppose it’s the best choice. Not to say I won’t miss it. I’ll probably check in on your JRPG calendar every now and then.

Thanks for all the hard work on these updates. They were really useful.

    1. You are welcome. I would try to continue them if I maybe had someone to assist me with the editing, but there don’t seem to be many options available at the moment, and even then I at least would need a break.
