JRPG Update: 5/14/2017 – 5/20/2017

Well, another week has come and gone, and thank god I decided to write out all these announcements as they came up rather than doing them all in one day because I decided I wanted to enhance the presentation a bit, and that took some time to do. Anyway this week had a pretty good news line up for JRPGs and JRPG influenced games. This week has seen the release of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (3DS), Regalia – Of Men and Monarchs (PC), Akiba’s Beat (PS4/Vita), Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy (Vita/PC), and Chroma Squad (PS4/XONE).

Shiness: The Lighting Kingdom getting a physical release from Wayô Records and a digital release on iTunes.

Diagaea 5 Complete has over 110,000 pre-orders in the US and Europe, with France making up most of the European pre-orders. Its demo is also out now in North America and Europe, and we have a new gameplay trailer.

Sample videos released for “Boss Battle” and “Penelo’s Theme” from the Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age soundtrack. Must say, the boss battle theme is as badass as ever. Also does anyone else think that the beginning of “Penelo’s Theme” sounds kind of like “Bein’ Friends?

Dragon Quest XI details the monster mount system. Basically, it allows you to ride monsters that you defeat in battle in order to reach areas you otherwise couldn’t. Kind of like the HMs in Pokemon. Its smithing system has also been given more details and the PS4 and 3DS box art has been revealed.

The (18+) PC edition of Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest is up for pre-order on Jast USA’s website.

Last but certainly not least, other PS1 era Final Fantasy remakes are likely according to Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age director Takashi Katano. That’s good news, but I’d still prefer a proper remaster of Final Fantasy VI, not this dumb mobile crap.

As per usual, here is the current release calendar. I have decided to do away with the “unconfirmed for localization” section considering it is already difficult enough to keep track of what IS coming out over here. Besides, there will still be news posted about games not confirmed for localization.
